FURNMART, HOME CORP WORKERS SUBMIT PETITION

Employees of Furnmart and Home Corp Namibia on Tuesday today handed over a formal petition to management.

They have been in a wage dispute that has been deadlocked since August last year.

The employees expressed concern over what they described as intimidation tactics, while emphasising that their actions are protected under the Namibian Constitution.

Choppies employees have handed over a petition to the company management, in which they claim unfair treatment.

 Workers gathered at the Khomas Grove Mall in Khomasdal, charging that they have been underpaid since the Botswana-based retail chain started operating in Namibia since 2017.

Dismissed OK Foods employees at Rundu protest

Employees of OK Foods at Rundu who went on strike in May this year are staging a demonstration after receiving dismissal letters on 25 September. 

The more than 100 workers were suspended from 25 May to 25 September with pay, only to be dismissed this week. 

NSFAF asks SOEs to pay off money owed to it

The Namibia Student Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) is asking state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to help pay off money owed to it by their employees.

This call was made by NSFAF's Company Secretary, Fillemon Immanuel, at the Chief Executive Officers and senior management engagement from 57 SOE's.
