The Desert Jewels, Namibia's national netball team, lost their first game in the Pacific Netball Series to Samoa with a score of 55 to 74. 

The match played in Brisbane, Australia, marked the start of the tournament which will run until June 15th.

Sponsored by Debmarine Namibia, the team's objective is to secure a top position in the tournament as part of their preparation for the World Cup in three years' time. 

They aim to adopt the Irish style of play, globally recognized for its effectiveness.

Head coach Julene Meyer expressed pride in the team's performance despite the loss, highlighting the need to improve their defense in the upcoming games. The Desert Jewels will next  face Tsonga, currently ranked 8th in the world, today
