Truck drivers face immense challenges in transporting goods and materials into the country.

Trans World Cargo, a local logistics company, documented the journey of two truck drivers in a documentary called "Beyond the Road," as they transported 20 tonnes of glass bottles from Angola.

The journey provided a glimpse into the determination and commitment of the two drivers.

Not only do they spend months away from their families, but they also have to navigate cross-border processes, rough terrain roads, and ensure their own safety as well as the safety of their cargo.

They carry the responsibility of protecting goods and materials as they travel approximately four thousand kilometers.

Nakale Hosea, a driver for Track World Cargo, shares his challenges:

"It is important for others to see what we go through on the road because there can be challenges, especially when you are in another country dealing with cross-border issues. There are many potholes and the road conditions are very poor."

Twenty-tonne glass bottles are loaded onto overland freight vehicles, with each crate securely fastened for the risky journey ahead.

At times, the drivers have to take on the responsibility of loading the trucks when there is no one else available at the depot.

Michaela Teetz, Business Development at Track World Cargo, emphasizes the need to show the drivers respect:

"We should show them some respect because they provide us with everything we need. If we don't respect them, we won't have anything on our shelves."

CME Marketing CEO John Louw Mouton, responsible for the documentary, explains that they aimed to capture the authenticity of the drivers without scripting the process:

"We didn't want to script it too much; we wanted to keep it as authentic as possible. This allows us to capture what truly exists. Of course, there are many challenges, such as road conditions, but that is all part of the process."

Niel Pretorius Director & Cinematographer of "Beyond the Road," shares his experience:

"I was in the truck with them, and I didn't know much about truck drivers. People need to understand that they have much more responsibility on the road than an average person driving a car."

The documentary, "Beyond the Road," will be available on YouTube and various social media platforms.
