The latest voter registration data suggests Zambezi is among the regions with the lowest number of registered voters thus far.

To date, officials say the region has registered 26,000 voters out of an estimated 77,205 eligible voters in the region. 

Mafwe Litunga George Simasiku Mamili VII is concerned over the low number of voters who have shown up to register.

Mamili spoke to nbc News while registering to vote himself at Chinchimane.

He reminded fellow citizens that only through voting can they ensure their voices are heard in political matters. 

By not voting, he says, individuals deprive themselves of their own position in the administration of the country. 

Speaking particularly to the youth in Zambezi, he urged them not to only complain but to take action and support government efforts to bring services closer to the people.
