Hundreds of mourners gathered at the Tanidare Lutheran Church in Windhoek's Soweto over the weekend to pay their last respects to the late former minister of education, Katrina Hanse-Himarwa, during the final memorial service.
Mourners included former First Lady Monica Geingos, Deputy Ministers Jennely Matundu, Faustina Caley, Alexia Manombe-Ncube, Judge Nate Ndaendapo, Central Bank Governor Johannes !Gawaxab, Public Service Commission Chairperson Salman Jacobs, and Lawyer Sisa Namandje, as well as politburo and central committee members of the Swapo Party.
The theme of the memorial service was based on the late's favourite Psalm 23.
The late Hanse-Himarwa always had a passionate love for music and choral songs, hence tributes from choirs, musicians, and singers.
Delivering the eulogy, the Public Service Chairperson, Salman Jacobs, described the late Hanse-Himarwa as a remarkable woman.
"Her journey was marked by unwavering dedication to her community, steadfast leadership, and a profound commitment to social justice."
Tributes were paid to the life and times of the late and "dynamic" Hanse-Himarwa, affectionately referred to as Muti.
The 57-year-old Hanse-Himarwa died last Sunday and will be buried in Mariental on Saturday, July 27.
Henceforth, memorial services will continue in Mariental.
