nbc Director General Stanley Similo says the tourism sector stands to benefit from beauty pageants such as Miss Namibia.

Pageants are known to play an integral role in promoting tourism by attracting visitors from different regions to participate in or witness such events.

Speaking on Namibia Connects following the successful hosting of Miss Teen and Miss Namibia, Similo emphasised the impact beauty contests can have on the tourism sector.

The role of pageants in promoting tourism and economic growth cannot be underestimated, hence the call by Stanley Similo for all stakeholders, both public and private sectors, to be part and parcel of future competitions.

"Now, what is disappointing, and I need to stress this, is that when we go to others, we ask them to be part of what we're doing. They will tell you that our vision and our mission do not speak to beauty pageants. We have seen the beauty pageant element of this is the entertaining side of what we're doing. The theme that is underpinning what we're doing is to bring out a better lady. Women better lead the Alliance, so we are saying, help us to get the girl child to become a strong individual moving forward."

Coming up with a successful production such as this one requires hard work.

From script writing to choosing camera angles or switching on lights on the stage, all work is done in the production process to give the audience nothing but quality.

The nbc Director General patted the corporation's staff on the back for a job well done.

The glitzy events of the Miss Teen and Miss Namibia beauty pageants were held at Luderitz Waterfront.

Elaine Engelbrecht walked away with the Miss Teen crown while Prisca Anyolo was crowned Miss Namibia.
