The Aminuis Constituency in the Omaheke Region has shown some improvement in voter registration, followed by Otjinene and Gobabis.
To date, the Aminuis Constituency has recorded 71% of eligible voters, followed by Otjinene at 70%, while Gobabis stands at 64%.
Kalahari and Okorukambe recorded below 50%, Epukiro 63%, and Otjombinde 50%.
The Electoral Commission of Namibia's Deputy Director for Voter and Civic Education, Marilyn Kazetjikuria expressed concern about the low numbers at registration points. "Looking at all these figures, you still see that there is still a number of people that still have to come and register."
The deputy director also added that they have observed a large number of senior citizens lining up at different registration points around the region in comparison to young people. Out
Kalahari Constituency Councillor Ignatius Kariseb reminded the residents of the importance of registering and voting.
"So I urged everybody in the constituency and beyond in the region to step up and register so that your voice at the end of the day can be heard. That's the only way your voice can be heard, be it development or anything else you want to say, so I will really ask them, urge them, to come and register so their voices can be heard."
Traditional leaders are also urged to mobilise their followers to register.
