On Wednesday, several Members of Parliament delivered their maiden speeches in the National Assembly, sharing their backgrounds and plans for the future.

Swapo MP John Likando, who previously served for nine years in the National Council, emphasized his commitment to amplifying the voices of the Namibian people in the National Assembly. He expressed a particular focus on economic empowerment for youth, women, and boys.

Another Swapo MP, Justina Jonas, spoke about her humble beginnings and her pride in her roots within the workers' movement through the NUNW.

 Having worked as a security guard, a kapana vendor, and a hairdresser, Jonas highlighted her journey as evidence that anyone can make a difference.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform, Ruth Masake, acknowledged the vital contributions of workers to the economy.

Swapo MP Modestus Ashipara began his address by honoring Namibia's pioneers.

He expressed a strong passion for education and social justice, advocating for laws to support vulnerable communities and empower young people.

Many other MPs also shared their aspirations in their maiden speeches, all pledging to work diligently on behalf of the people of Namibia.
