The Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture, in collaboration with the World Food Programme and the Embassy of Brazil, undertook a site visit to the Stampriet Combined in Hardap, which is piloting an integrated food systems project.
The project sees the school producing vegetables for the feeding project while simultaneously running a poultry project.
The partners hope the success of the project could be emulated by other schools to feed learners.
The site visit provided an opportunity to assess the progress of the project model as well as explore opportunities for further collaboration and scaling of the impact.
The poultry farming project at the school currently includes over 300 chickens, while the school also produces cabbages, potatoes, radishes, and carrots, among other vegetables.
