The leader of the official opposition, McHenry Venaani, is calling for the establishment of a Water and Rural Development Commission.
At a media conference in Windhoek, McHenry Venaani, President of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), addressed urgent national issues, including water scarcity and rural development.
Venaani highlighted Namibia's severe water shortages, with major dams at critically low levels.
He urged President Nangolo Mbumba to establish a Water Commission to manage this resource efficiently and support sustainable practices.
Venaani stressed the need to invest in rural areas to enhance food security.
He emphasised the importance of improving infrastructure, such as roads, schools, and clinics, to revitalise rural economies and retain skilled labour.
He also expressed concern over low voter registration numbers and called on the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) to ensure all eligible citizens can register and vote.
