Padel Tennis, introduced just four months ago, is rapidly gaining popularity among youth and families. Brought to Namibia on April this year, by Namibia Padel, Namspire, and their partners, this racket sport, which originated in Mexico, combines elements of traditional Tennis and Squash.
Played in a semi-enclosed glass court, Padel Tennis is known for its simplicity in terms of technical skills, making it accessible to a wide audience.
We caught up with co-founder Dickson Vambe at Namspire Village, who shared more about the initiative.
We also spoke with avid junior player Lana Bajart, who shared her experience with the sport after participating for the last few months.
Shane Snyman, an avid Padel Tennis player, provided further insights. He explained that individuals with a background in tennis or squash find it relatively easy to adapt to Padel Tennis. It's an inclusive sport, welcoming both beginners and competitive players, making it easy for anyone to get involved.
Although still relatively new in Namibia, Padel Tennis is growing rapidly and is recognized worldwide as one of the fastest-growing sport.
