Agriculture is seen as a beacon of hope in tackling youth unemployment, and thus there is a need to make the sector more attractive for young people.
Speakers at the Ruforum Conference, currently underway in Windhoek, are advocating for new ways to make agriculture attractive for young entrants.
This includes maximising the use of technology and equipping young farmers to take advantage of opportunities in the sector.
Various agricultural models were presented, including the benefit-cost ratio, which considers the benefits of a project or proposal in monetary terms relative to its cost and may be used to determine the potential for profitability, youth employment, and wealth creation.
