Standard Bank Namibia has donated N$50,000 towards Oshakati Town Council's Mayoral Development Fund.

The fund was established to provide support where it is most needed.

This initiative is more than just a fund; it is a beacon of hope for those affected by unforeseen circumstances.

The Mayoral Development Fund offers a framework to provide assistance, ensuring that the support reaches those who need it the most and that the resources are available when the time comes.

Acting Regional Manager of Standard Bank, Hendrik van Wyk, says, "Our decision to support the Mayoral Development Fund is rooted in our core values of inclusivity and empowerment. We believe that every Namibian, regardless of their social, economic, or political standing, deserves an opportunity to thrive. By contributing to this fund, we are not only offering immediate relief but also investing in the long-term growth and prosperity of our community. Let us continue championing the growth of our nation by fostering an environment where everyone has access to care in their time of need."

Oshakati Mayor Leonard Hango stated the fund will support humanitarian activities, sport and recreation, health and education, arts and culture, disaster and emergency services, as well as SMEs.

"We are so happy, as Oshakati Town Council, sincerely that the good Samaritan there extended their support towards the established Oshakati Mayoral Fund for our institution. We are really in short of words to express our gratitude for this generous support that we have received today from Standard Bank Namibia."

The fund was established as a result of people flocking to the council offices for assistance.
