President Nangolo Mbumba has assured his fellow SADC leaders that he will continue from where his predecessor, Dr. Hage Geingob, left off by remaining committed to the goals and principles of the regional organisation and the aspirations of SADC citizens.
Dr. Mbumba pledged to tirelessly endeavour to play his part in ensuring that the dreams and hopes of the SADC citizens for a better future will materialise into a region characterised by peace, unity, and economic prosperity.
The Namibian leader delivered his maiden speech at the 44th Ordinary Summit of the SADC Heads of State and Government underway in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare.
He said that in the interests of advancing developmental goals amid continuous challenges, Namibia is co-facilitating the Summit of the Future alongside Germany during the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly next month.
Dr. Mbumba added that Namibia has accepted this task with the utmost dedication and willingness to add its collective voice to inclusively build a better world for current and future generations.
As Namibia prepares for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections, the SADC Electoral Advisory Council undertook a goodwill mission to the country last month.
President Mbumba told the summit that Namibia remains committed to the SADC Principles and Guidelines for Democratic Elections, will respect their findings, and will pay attention to their advice and recommendations.
