The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) held its Congress in Katima Mulilo, where President McHenry Venaani and the top five leaders retained their positions.
Jennifer Van Den Heever remains Vice President, Ricky Vries continues as National Chairperson, Manuel Ngaringombe stays on as Secretary General, Linus Tobias holds the Deputy Secretary General role, and Nico Smit retains his position as National Treasurer.
The Congress also introduced two new leadership roles: Rosa Mbinge-Tjeundo as Vice National Chairperson and Sydney Ndumba as Deputy Treasurer. This expansion brings the number of top leadership positions from six to eight.
An eighth position, National Spokesperson, is yet to be filled. The role will be appointed, not elected.
Venaani thanked the delegates for their maturity and discipline during the Congress, stating, "We will do more. At a rally, I will announce steps to ensure that this vessel sails smoothly and safely, helping the socio-economic development of many Namibians."
He also called on party members to defend the party from negativity.
After the leadership announcements, the Congress proceeded to elect 40 Central Committee members. The results will be announced on Tuesday at the PDM headquarters in Windhoek.
