SWANU of Namibia will prioritise unemployment, poverty, public health, education, and rural economy once elected into power.

This was shared by the party's president, Evilastus Kaaronda, during the official launch of the party manifesto and a regional conference held at Gobabis over the weekend.

Kaaronda believes that with abundant natural resources, the country has the potential to create jobs for most Namibians and equally address the pressing issues of poverty and malnutrition.

He added that all Namibians, regardless of social and economic status, should access quality medical health care and treatment.

"Even if a job must give you economic freedom, it cannot do so alone and must therefore be accompanied by a deliberate equitable wealth redistribution program. Unemployment and poverty will never exist in a country where the natural resources, such as fishing quotas, mining concessions, oil and gas, wind, and solar power energies, land, and the collected state revenues are enjoyed by all citizens through an equitable wealth redistribution program."

On rural economy as the foundation of development, Kaaronda stressed that given the population that resides in remote areas, it shows that more resources and proper funding should be directed towards the agricultural sector.

"The agricultural green schemes will also be a central part in the creation of employment, but unlike how they are mismanaged at present, under the SWANU government these green schemes will be managed with the direct involvement and participation of the local communities in which the schemes reside."

SWANU will implement restorative justice and the non-negotiable return of ancestral land to the rightful owners.
