The Namibia Industrial Development Agency (NIDA) is seeking investors for feedlot development, fodder, and feed cultivation at its Kavango Cattle Ranch facility in the Kavango West Region.
The agency's recently appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Richwell Lukonga, said in a statement on the Industrialisation Agenda in Namibia that the investment also includes possible biomass production, further enhancing its economic impact.
“This investment is part of the flagship projects NIDA identified during the transition period since its establishment in November 2018,” Lukonga said.
The CEO said NIDA has been mandated to execute business incentives to support industrialisation and facilitate, develop, coordinate, and foster partnerships across all spheres of government, the private sector, and relevant stakeholders that may assist it in achieving its objectives.
He said in the Kavango East Region, NIDA is advancing an agri-business project in Divundu, along with special agri-scheme projects such as the Musese and Shitemo green schemes.
Lukonga further said with a primary goal of generating employment, reducing poverty, and promoting the manufacturing of value-added products, NIDA has allocated industrial land for private sector development in towns such as Tsumeb, Otavi, Divundu, Walvis Bay, Karibib, Okahandja, and Opuwo.
NIDA's industrial agenda revolves around five key initiatives: youth empowerment and employment creation, entrepreneurship development, investment facilitation and attraction, export-orientated industrial growth, and import substitution.
