During his first state of the region address, Ohangwena Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga emphasized the need for developing sport infrastructure in the region.
Ohangwena region, bordering Kavango West to the east, Oshikoto to the south, Oshana to the south west, and Omusati to the west with Angola to the north, was put on the map by a team that has forever changed the trajectory of Namibian football.
The region is home to Eeshoke Chula Chula, which was the talk of every football fan last football season.
The new regional governor, Sebastian Ndeitunga, a former inspector general of the Namibian police, delivered his first state of the region address.
While highlighting the development achievements in one of the highly populated regions, Ndeitunga emphasized the importance of sport facilities.
The former police boss expressed his concern about the protracted delays in finalizing the Eenhana multi-purpose stadium.
Started in 2009 to address the lack of proper sporting facilities in the region, the stadium's progress continues to move at a snail's pace, although there is visible progress.
According to Ndeitunga, the stadium is envisaged to be completed by 2025 after six years of construction.
The region is also working on another stadium at Helao Nafidi, with the second phase underway. The Helao Nafidi stadium still requires approximately 4 million Namibian dollars to construct a pavilion.
Ndeitunga emphasized the need to develop infrastructure that will benefit sports lovers and athletes alike.
