The Namibian College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) celebrated its 23rd Graduation Ceremony for Tertiary and TVET Programmes, graduating students from diverse backgrounds under the theme "No One Should Be Left Behind."

The days when NAMCOL was solely recognized as an institution for learners to improve their grades for tertiary education are long gone.

Today, NAMCOL is known for producing graduates equipped to enter the job market and contribute meaningfully to society as responsible adults.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Faustina Caley, commended NAMCOL for its contribution to achieving Namibia's national goals.

"I want to underscore NAMCOL's contribution to national goals. In this regard, NAMCOL plays a vital role in realizing these national development goals. By providing flexible learning opportunities, NAMCOL ensures that education is accessible to those who may not be able to attend traditional schools or institutions. Whether due to geographical, financial, or personal constraints, NAMCOL has become a beacon of hope for many Namibians who aspire to better their lives through education."

She highlighted the role of AI-driven development in various sectors, including e-commerce, management, coding, and data analysis.

"These advancements create exciting new opportunities and challenges for those who are prepared, those who are graduating today.  For example, the rise of e-commerce has opened up global markets for small businesses and entrepreneurs, enabling them to reach customers far beyond their local areas."

Caley urged graduates to continually upgrade their skills in order to remain relevant in the competitive global landscape.

NAMCOL acting CEO, Albert Kulobone, encouraged graduates to serve as ambassadors.

"As you embark on your future endeavors, remember the foundation that has been laid for you here at NAMCOL. As a NAMCOL Ambassador, use the knowledge, skills, and experiences you have gained to build a better community, a better Namibia, and a better world."

Graduates received certificates, diplomas, and degrees, including in Sign Language and Interpreting and Postgraduate Diploma in Open School Operations and Management (NQF Level 8).

In addition, students who achieved a merit of 75% or higher in technical education and training programs were recognized for their outstanding achievements.
