Heritage Week not only serves as a celebration of various cultural heritage but also as a reminder of shared responsibility to appreciate one another's uniqueness.

This was the message of ||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick while addressing a heritage celebration week gathering at Keetmanshoop.

The Keetmanshoop Municipality hosted the Heritage Week celebrations under this year's theme, 'Culture is Community, Community is Culture.'

"As we celebrate this week, let us take time to appreciate the beauty of our cultural diversity. From the traditional dances of people of each tribe to the sophisticated dresses, and beadwork of the community, each element reflects not only the artistic expression but also deep-rooted histories and beliefs. The Namibian government recognises the importance of preserving our heritage through various institutional legal frameworks and regional levels," said Frederick.

Also speaking at the occasion was the Mayor of Keetmanshoop, McDonald Hanse.

"This day is also an attempt to help continue educating the youth about the importance of historical works and taking pride in shared cultural heritage. I hope we continue to learn more, and like other holiday celebrations, this day we'll do it with a lot of zeal. Let's learn and explore."
