The Day of the Namibian Child is an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges facing Namibian children.

The Governor of the |Khomas Region, Laura McLeod-Katjirua, shared the sentiments during the celebration of the day at the Namibia Primary School.

Children and education stakeholders gathered to celebrate the day with various performances.

The day advocates for improved access to education, healthcare, and protection from violence and exploitation.

"The government of Namibia is dedicated to ensuring that all children have access to quality education and development services that lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning and well-being. This commitment involves creating a conducive learning environment, implementing inclusive educational policies, and empowering children with essential skills for personal growth, employment, and active societal participation," said McLeod-Katjirua.

The Day of the Namibian Child is celebrated to honour Namibia's ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990.

The day, celebrated on the 28th of September, is being held under the theme "Educate an African fit for the 21st Century, building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa."
