The Swapo Party will lead a march in Windhoek in solidarity with the people of Palestine tomorrow.

Swapo Secretary for Information and Mobilisation Hilma Nicanor made the announcement at a media briefing.

The Israel-Palestinian conflict has claimed thousands of lives and displaced more than a million people.

The march will start from Zoo Park at 08h00 to United Nations offices, where they will hand in a petition requesting a peaceful resolution.

The regions that are not represented are the Kunene, Hardap, and Kavango regions, among others.

The minister says provision needs to be made to ensure that no region is left behind in development.

She further suggested that the country's identity should be portrayed in the skills competition.

Despite encountering a few challenges, such as the short supply of materials and equipment in the northern regions, the steering committee of the third National Skills Competition is optimistic that all will be set for the competition on Tuesday.

Speaking to nbc News, the chairperson of the committee, Tobias Nambala, says the procurement of some materials in the northern regions has been a challenge.

He said some of the equipment was damaged during the transportation process from Windhoek.

The Secretary of the National Assembly, Lydia Kandetu, has assured the Namibian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) that their demands for the recognition of sign language will receive the necessary attention.

Kandetu said this while receiving the petition from the association in Windhoek on Thursday.

The association held a demonstration from the Regional Police Station to Zoo Park, where they handed over the petition to Kandetu.

Competitors are in full preparation mode for the National Skills Competition scheduled to take place from the 25th to the 30th of this month at Ongwediva.

There is a hive of activities at the Ongwediva Trade Fair Centre as all fourteen trade participants prepare for the competition.
