After months of renovations, the Ondangwa swimming pool is now open to the public, offering a space for recreation, school functions, and swimming lessons for all ages.
Located opposite the old tennis club in Ondangwa, the pool has undergone extensive upgrades to meet the community’s needs. Although renovations are ongoing in some areas, the facility is fully functional and ready for visitors.
NBC Sports recently visited to get the latest updates, speaking with facility manager and swimming coach Johan Roelofse. He provided insight into the pool's history and current operations.
While the Ondangwa pool is not Olympic-sized, Roelofse highlighted its features since its construction. The facility offers weekly swimming lessons for children aged 2 to 4, with 8 lessons priced at N$200, and for those aged 5 and above, 16 lessons for N$300.
Excitingly, Roelofse plans to host the first swimming gala in early November, inviting the Ongwediva and Oshakati swimming clubs to participate.
Roelofse encourages all schools and community members to enjoy summer days at the Ondangwa swimming pool, with an entrance fee of just N$30.
