The Association of Heat, Ventilation, and Cooling held its first annual meeting to address the need for replacing ozone-depleting substances and announced the nominees of board members.

Namibia has been elected to establish the SADC refrigeration and cooling headquarters.

Although Namibia does not contribute much to ozone depletion, it is not immune from the harmful effects of global warming and climate change.

Namibia is currently facing the harsh reality posed by climate change, which includes depletion and degradation of water and aquatic resources, desertification, as well as loss of biodiversity and decline in marine resources.

The aim of the association is to raise public awareness on climate-related matters as well as encourage the replacement of air cooling systems with natural gas.

However, natural gas is highly flammable, which could be harmful if not properly handled.

The President for the Association of Heat, Ventilation, and Cooling Parastus Nepolo said the engagement of key stakeholders is crucial to unite the sector, be more organised, and set standards.

Namiba being elected to establish the SADC refrigeration and cooling headquarters in southern Africa, the association has nominated seven members who will be elected as board members in the following week.
