The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Peya Mushelenga, is visiting Helsinki, Finland, to discuss bilateral and strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
Dr. Mushelenga paid a courtesy call on Finland's President Alexander Stubb, where the two leaders acknowledged the strong historical and special ties that bind the two countries. The meeting addressed the need to enhance economic cooperation between Namibia and Finland, building upon the existing special relations for mutual benefits and sustainable growth.
On Thursday, Dr. Mushelenga met with Foreign Affairs Minister, Elina Valtonen, to discuss cooperation in developing critical mineral value chains, particularly ensuring the success of the green transition.
He expressed the need to explore all avenues to enhance bilateral relations, including high-level political, parliamentary, and cultural exchanges, and emphasised that going forward, the two countries' bilateral relations will be economic cooperation to be manifested as increased trade and investment on mutually beneficial terms.
While in Finland, Dr. Mushelenga also paid a courtesy call on the Lutheran Bishop of Helsinki, the Right Reverend Teemu Olavi Laajasalo.
In a media statement, the Finnish Government revealed that other topics for discussion include the Russia-Ukraine war and the situation in the Middle East.
