Namibian beauty queen, Ndinelago Emosho, who is also a professional teacher at Ekulo Senior Secondary School in the Oshikoto Region, was crowned Miss Tourism Africa 2024 on Tuesday in Lagos, Nigeria.
The Miss Tourism Africa Organisation, based in Nigeria, is a prestigious global entity that celebrates and honours diverse cultures, backgrounds, and religions.
Emosho was welcomed at the Hosea Kutako International Airport by her family, fans, and onlookers, as well as traditional dancers, which perfectly complemented her title as Miss Tourism Africa 2024.
The 27-year-old is from Olupembana Village in the Omusati Region and, besides her teaching career, is passionate about pageantry, education, adventure, and fitness.
In addition to winning the admiration of both the judges and audience, Emosho also claimed the Best National Costume award during the grand finale.
"The inspiration behind my national costume is the Mahangu plant, which describes me as a person and as a Namibian people, because that is a stable food that over 50% of Namibians depend on, and I wanted something that represents us," she explained the choice of national costume.
Emosho received a cash prize of approximately N$46,000 along with various other rewards.
Her journey to the Miss Tourism Africa 2024 competition began in June, when she was crowned Miss Tourism Namibia. As well as being a top 20 in the Miss Namibia 2024.
Despite facing challenges, including difficulties securing sponsorship, Emosho remained determined and ultimately succeeded.
Emosho plans to use the Miss Tourism Africa platform to inspire others to pursue their dreams while promoting Namibia's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty to boost tourism.
