A minor boy was burned beyond recognition when the sleeping room in which he was resting caught fire last night at Ohangwena yaHaamoni village in the Ohangwena region.

A five-year-old girl who was in the same room managed to escape, although she sustained serious burn wounds and is currently receiving treatment at Engela District Hospital. 

The incident occurred at the homestead of Ottlile Hadibo. The cause of the fire is unknown, but police investigations are ongoing. At the time the fire started, around 20:00, the children were left alone at home.
