Chief of the Police Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo has bemoaned the 'slow pace' at which members of the force attend to crime matters when they are called upon.

The inspector general made an example of minister Utoni Nuyoma's official vehicle that was damaged over the weekend and had to wait for two hours for the police to attend to him.

Shikongo said there are so many issues that are just not well, referring to how both junior and senior police officers carry out their duties.

He also lamented on the lack of coordination between the various departments of the force.

On many occasions, junior officers are thrown in to the deep end with no supervision or guidance, and this also raised an eyebrow with the police chief.

Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and senior officers from the CID are having a weeklong workshop at the police headquarters, and the inspector general has called on them to have a robust discussion on how best to deliver service to the people.
