The Landless People's Movement (LPM) missed its target of having 71% youth representation in the parliamentary list and has instead reached only 45%.
 
LPM announced its list of 92 candidates for the National Assembly at the electoral convention held over the weekend in Windhoek. 

Its leader, Bernardus Swartbooi, explained that although the party initially targeted 71% youth representation, it is unfortunate that it missed the target by 26%.

"We have taken, as you will see in the party's top 5 positions, a decision to already have at no. 4 a young person, Utaara, and at no. 6 a young person, Ndala, and position no. 10 Skrywer, so in the top 10 together with Melody and Guame, the young people actually represent at least 50% in the top 10. So in the top 10 of the parties list, young people are at a solid 50%, which for us is a noteworthy action."

Swartbooi tops the list, followed by the party's treasurer general, Aina Kodi; operative secretary Dawid Eigub occupies the third place, followed by the Chief Whip, Utaara Mootu; and Eneas Emvula occupies the fifth position.

Others in the top ten are Duminga Ndala, Edwart Hiangoro, Melody Swaartbooi, Guame Stephanus, and Ivan Skrywer. 

"It was certified that the election was free and fair to all. For us, I must really say we have done a good job, team. I want to thank you and congratulate the entire convention. There are those that say that this person must have been here and there, but that's not how it works; it's a democratic process." 

Former Windhoek Mayor Sade Gawanas and activist Michael Amushelelo are at numbers 26 and 31, respectively. 

Amushelelo made it to the list as presidential nominee.

"We are pleased to have him at number 31, contrary to what people believe Michael never demanded to be on the list; in fact, he just wanted to stay on the ground and mobilise for the party."

However, Amushelelo posted on social media that he would relinquish his spot on the parliamentary list, citing that he did not work for it. 

Swartbooi described the electoral convention that was attended by 300 delegates from across the country as a success.

Currently, LPM has four seats in the National Assembly.
