40 years after its establishment, the Kehemu Primary School in Rundu has been renamed after its first principal, Jafet Haiyambo.
The school was established in 1984, with about 450 learners and 11 teachers.
It then catered to learners from grades one to four, accommodated in 10 classrooms.
As its first principal, the late Jafet Haiyambo led the school despite the challenges of the colonial era.
Haiyambo resigned in 1996, citing health problems.
He died on 23 June 2010 and was buried at Mupini Village in the Kavango West Region.
Besides the school's renaming in honour of its late former principal, the school also honoured its second principal, Gervasiuse Hausiku, renaming the school hall after him.
Hausiku led the school from the year 2000 until 2016, when he went on early retirement, also due to ill health.
Attending the renaming ceremony, family members of the two legends expressed their gratitude.
