The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) is set to prioritise water provision in rural areas, road upgrades, modernisation of the agricultural sector, as well as addressing malnutrition in the Omaheke Region.
Its President McHenry Venaani made the remarks at the party's star rally at Gobabis over the weekend.
Venaani stressed that Omaheke is one of the regions with the potential to become an agricultural hub, but the persistent years of drought and limited underground water have affected the locals.
Much capital, he said, is needed to remedy the situation, including an improved road network.
On malnutrition and food insecurity, the PDM president indicated that robust ideas are in the pipeline to find a lasting solution.
"The Epukiro-Gobabis road carries close to N$30 million worth of cattle coming to Gobabis and going into the inner land, and why is that road not built? What economic viability are you talking about? The same with the Otjombinde-Gobabis road. Over N$25 million worth of cattle and goods travel that road every day. And why is that road not fixed? We can't be in the region that is a cattle country that contributes six percent to our GDP, and Gobabis is a force in this country, and yet roads in this region are dilapidated and our people are suffering."
Venaani also promised to address and bring standard health infrastructures to the region if given the mandate to govern.
"The shortage of hospital beds, inadequate ambulances, and poor staff accommodations, especially in the area that I will mention, Otjinene, Eiseb, and Epukiro, are barriers to the quality of health of our people."
The party also welcomed new members, including former police top official Edwin Kanguatjivi.
