The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) and party agents in the ||Kharas Region carried out inspections and verifications of sensitive election materials for upcoming special voting in the national and presidential elections.
The sensitive materials, including ballot papers, arrived from Windhoek last Friday and were safeguarded at the Keetmanshoop Police Station before being dispatched to Lüderitz and Oranjemund. Party agents expressed satisfaction with the materials' handling.
IPC Party agent Joshua Elia said, "I am happy with the process so far, and everything appears to be going well. It’s on point."
"It is very transparent. We had enough time to verify the seals and take photos for our records," said LPM Party agent Emilia Poulton.
Swapo Party Coordinator for ||Kharas Region, Mathew Mumbala, added, "We did not encounter major issues. But on Friday, the communication about material arrival was rushed. There should be clear communication on timing."
ECN’s ||Kharas Region Election Officer, Jejamaije Mujoro, responded to communication issues raised by party agents.
"Communication challenges are valid. Sometimes agents internalize earlier times, leading to confusion. While minor delays occur, transparency remains our priority."
