The San communities of Epinga Village in the Omundaungilo Constituency of the Ohangwena Region are ready for elections.
They said voting is their democratic right, and they would like to elect a leadership that will work on addressing their plights and alleviating poverty among their people.
Epinga Village is a few kilometres from the eastern parts of Eenhana town on the Namibia-Angola borderline.
The village is home to the San, of whom some have been living here for many years, while others have migrated from elsewhere in the constituency or southern Angola, as they are living a nomadic life.
Their homesteads are made of makeshift shacks that can be easily blown away by wind or destroyed by rain, especially during the rainy season, and the people depend on the government for food.
and other commodities, as they have no means of income.
Speaking to nbc News, Maria Haimbodi, a resident of Epinga, said they are ready for elections, and their voting cards are well kept, waiting for November 27.
Some said they would like to see the elected government working to their expectations of addressing their needs, such as proper housing and decent sanitation.
They are thankful to the government, as they receive food parcels and an old-age pension.
