Swapo Party Vice President and President-elect, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, reminded members of the party's central committee of their duty to serve the people.

Nandi-Ndaitwah says the Namibian people have entrusted the party to run the country for the next five years, and it is not going to be business as usual.

While the party has won the majority of seats, it also lost 12 seats during the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Therefore, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah called on the party members to redouble their efforts to claim back what they have lost by working hard in serving the Namibian people.

"The strength of the Swapo Party lies in the people of Namibia and their faith in us should not be the threat, and we, who are members of the Central Committee, must provide leadership. We must be the ones to be at the forefront to ensure that what we promised the people of this country has been implemented. The strength of the Swapo party lies in service delivery. Service delivery should be our pathway, and we should work harder to build on a strong foundation and the legacies. Remember, comrades, yes, we have won the majority of seats in the National Assembly, but with a reduced majority. Therefore, the next five years will be very critical for us to work hard in order to claim back what we have lost."

The Central Committee meeting will review and reflect on the commitment made to the people as stated in the manifesto and work on the implementation strategy.

"In this same room, we'll have a workshop to work on the implementation of the party election manifesto. I would like all of us to come out of that workshop with a common understanding on the road to meet thecommitments we have made to our people. Let us march forward together, united in our diversity, to ensure the beneficiation of our natural resources by all Namibians. I keep saying we are just too few in this country to be poor. I'm not saying everybody should be a millionaire or a billionaire, but there should be no one who can sleep with an empty stomach. And it's us as party leaders, several leaders, and committee members who have to make sure that this is implemented."

While applauding the youth for going out in numbers and voting, she assured them that the party will work together with the youth towards a greater future by creating more opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, mining, tourism, and the creative industry, among others.
