The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has announced its readiness to facilitate the inspection of sensitive materials used during the Presidential and National Assembly Elections following a recent High Court ruling.
A three-judge bench mandated the inspection of these materials on December 18 and 19.
The court ordered the inspection after opposition parties, the Independent Patriots for Change and the Landless People’s Movement, raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the November 27 elections.
The High Court ruling grants the opposition access to election data, including vote counts from polling stations, amid claims of flaws in the electoral process due to extended voting hours and logistical issues.
The ruling limits the parties from accessing sealed, sensitive materials.
