Rehoboth residents are becoming increasingly frustrated with the ongoing closure of the Reho Spa Recreational Resort, which was shut down in 2011 after falling into disrepair.
The facility was transferred to the Rehoboth Town Council from the State-owned Namibia Wildlife Resorts in 2024, and has been undergoing major renovations since.
According to local media reports last year, the facility was expected to reopen in December 2024.
The facility however remains closed much to the dissatisfaction of residents, who claim the town council has failed to update them regarding its opening.
Some residents expressed their displeasure about the council's silence on the matter to Nampa.
Approached for comment, Rehoboth Town Council Spokesperson Desire Pieters said they will only be able to provide clarity on the matter after a meeting scheduled for the second week of February.
The council is currently on recess and will resume in the second week of February.
The town council held its elections for office bearers in December last year, with Justin Coetzee elected as the new mayor of the town.
He also could not shed light on the future of the resort.
