An accident took place some 20 km from Otavi to Otjiwarongo after an ambulance crashed into a truck, resulting in two fatalities in the early hours of this morning.

The other six occupants of the ambulance sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Otjiwarongo Intermediate Hospital.

According to Otjozondjupa Regional Commander, Commissioner Philip Hidengwa, the truck with a Zambian number plate had a breakdown and was parked on the road without putting on any hazard or indicative sign of its presence.

In the same accident, another vehicle travelling from the Otjiwarongo side veered off the road after hitting a part of the truck's iron that fell off.
