The Otjozondjupa Regional Education Directorate has confirmed the placement of all 921 learners, who were without school at the beginning of the academic year.

Grades 1, 8, and 10 were the most affected.

Otjozondjupa Education Director, Gerhard Ndafenongo told nbc News that they have concluded the placement of all learners, although some learners at Okahandja will have to attend classes through the platoon system.

394 learners were placed in Grade 1, and 417 in Grade 8, while 110 Grade 10s secured places at Grootfontein, Okahandja and Otjiwarongo.

The platoon system is meant to mitigate the challenge of a lack of classroom space and to accommodate a growing learner population.

Meanwhile, Ndafenongo reports that the Directorate is currently recruiting 30 teachers, 12 for Grade 1, 14 for Grade 8, and 4 for Grade 10.

The distribution of newly repaired school furniture will also be done soon, including additional textbooks and stationery for all learners in the platoon systems.

A budget of N$3 million has been set aside to cater for all circuits.
