A solemn gathering took place at the Swapo office in Swakopmund, as a group of mourners came together to honour the late Founding President Dr. Sam Nujoma.
The regional party coordinator, Daniel Muhuura, took the opportunity to reflect on his memories of Dr. Nujoma.
Muhuura said that the land of the brave has been shaken by the demise of an iconic figure, whose influence reached far beyond the borders of Namibia.
Africa, Muhuura said, is collectively mourning the loss of the great leader, Dr. Sam Nujoma, whose vision and leadership helped shape the country's independence and its place in the global community.
Dr. Nujoma, who served as Namibia's first President from 1990 to 2005, was revered not only for his role in leading Namibia to freedom from apartheid rule but also for his unwavering dedication to the principles of Pan-Africanism.
Muhuura said that Nujoma's passing marks the end of an era for Namibia and the African continent as a whole, leaving a profound sense of loss in the hearts of those who admired him as a revolutionary leader and statesman.
He added that Dr. Nujoma's journey from a determined freedom fighter to a respected statesman has inspired generations, and his role in the Namibian liberation movement remains a cornerstone in the country's history.
"The man who has spearheaded this struggle has accomplished this task. Our Founding President is no more, but his legacy will live on forever because he was a man who could see something out of nothing. That is a vision that is from a visionary leader until it becomes a true reality. I would love to give an example of the university at Henties Bay. Who could have thought that that was his initiative and he knew what he was saying while we could not see anything out of nothing?"
