Otjozondjupa Regional Governor James Uerikua is convening a meeting with stakeholders who will be involved in the preparations of the regional memorial service of the late Founding President Sam Nujoma.

The meeting is underway at Grootfontein, where the memorial service is to be held on 24 February.

He stressed the need for committees to put aside their political and official affiliations and work as one for the smooth hosting of the memorial service.

Since the region is clustered with the Oshikoto Region, a projected figure of about 5,000 public members is expected to flock to Grootfontien to pay their last respects.

A procession will be held from the Grootfontein Military Base into town, after which the body will lie in state at Omulunga Stadium.

The meeting is attended by representatives of the Namibian Police, Namibia Defence Force, CEOs, regional and local authority councillors, the Office of the President, and representatives from the Ministries of Health and Education.
