As the nation bid farewell to its Founding President, Namibians from all walks of life came together to pay their final respects.

Residents and workers in the Kleine Kuppe and Prosperita areas lined Frank Fredericks Drive, watching in solemn tribute as the remains of Dr. Sam Nujoma were transported to Heroes' Acre, where he was laid to rest this morning.

From elders to children, with most in black attire, the crowd lined up along the road, with some waving the Namibian flags, both large and small, and some waving goodbye as the gun carriage pulled by an armoured personnel carrier passed by.

The atmosphere was filled with emotions as mourners sang church hymns and others held their phones high to capture the last moment of an iconic man who dedicated his life to the freedom of Namibia before he was laid to rest.

Among the onlookers was 92-year-old Saima Nangula Hamutenya, who described the late as the Moses of Namibia, who led the nation to a free Namibia.

Die Voortrekers, a youth organisation that promotes positive citizenship, also showed up to pay their last respects to the late Nujoma.
