The International Hockey Federation (FIH) recently held Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching License workshops in Windhoek, hosted at WHK Gymnasium and the Wanderers Sports Field.

This initiative aims to support the development of hockey at the grassroots level as the sport continues to grow in global recognition.

The seven-day FIH Level 1 and 2 Coaching Course was led by FIH Master Coach Herman Kruis from Europe.

It commenced on Friday, April 17, and concluded today at the Wanderers Sports Field.

The workshop focused on teaching the fundamentals of hockey coaching while also incorporating modern training techniques.

With guidance from FIH Coach Educators, participants received hands-on experience and feedback on practical coaching methods.

NBC Sport spoke with Coach Herman Kruis during the workshop, where he emphasized the significance of the course and its objectives in enhancing the quality of hockey coaching.

Several participants shared their thoughts on the experience, the value of the training, and how they plan to apply the knowledge gained to further develop the sport in their communities.

Erwin Handura, one of the Hockey Educators present, highlighted the workshop's positive impact on the local hockey scene and its potential to elevate coaching standards nationwide.

As the program concluded today, all attendees were awarded certificates, marking the start of their journey to help nurture the sport from the grassroots level.
