President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and her Botswana counterpart, Duma Boko, have proposed joint economic projects to shield the economies of the two countries from external shocks.
This is after the two leaders bemoaned the inequalities facing the people of both countries, terming it as unacceptable.
Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah and Advocate Boko held talks in Gaborone, where Nandi-Ndaitwah was on an official introductory visit.
Namibia and Botswana both rank among the topmost unequal countries, according to the Gini Coefficient inequality measuring index.
The trend is influenced by various factors, chief among them unemployment.
Presidents Nandi-Ndaitwah and Boko proposed, among others, that the two countries embark on joint projects aimed at addressing socio-economic challenges.
President Boko says the two countries need to aggregate and pool resources, such as skills, talents, and others, together to generate economic activity and benefits for the people.
President Boko also wants the projects which are already in the pipeline, which were worked on by their predecessors.
Presidents Nandi-Ndaitwah and Advocate Boko further agreed to communicate directly with each other on issues of mutual concern.
Namibia is set to host the second Bi-National Commission meeting of the two countries, chaired by the Heads of State.
