The Chairperson of the National Council and councillor of Mankupi Constituency, Lukas Muha, issued a stern warning against the use of divisive language.
He urged community members to refrain from statements that promote tribalism, racism or regionalism.
Muha made the statement following a visit to leaders in the constituencies of the Kavango West Region.
Speaking at Mbeyo Village, Muha emphasised that inciting rhetoric undermines national unity and is, in fact, against the law.
Also addressing the gathering was the Kavango East Governor, Hamunyera Hambyuka, who echoed similar sentiments as Muha.
He reminded residents that labelling others or making discriminatory remarks only served to drag the nation backwards.
Verna Sinimbo urged communities to work together in unity for the sake of progress.
Turning to security matters, the police regional commander in the region, Commissioner Julia Sikuwa-Neo, addressed public concerns about law enforcement in the area.
She assured residents that Ncamagoro has recorded minimal crime based on reports from the local police stations.
However, she acknowledged complaints regarding slow police response and committed to improving the situation, including the addition of a new vehicle to enhance mobility and ensure timely assistance.
The Commissioner encouraged residents to contact her directly if police officers fail to respond to community needs.
Commissioner Sikuwa-Neo also addressed the under-representation of the San community in the police force, revealing that although a special recruitment provision was made in the past, many recruits were later discharged for going Absent Without Official Leave.
Efforts to reintegrate them have proven difficult, with some individuals claiming they never applied to join the force.
