President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has departed for Luanda, Angola, to participate in the US-Africa Business Summit.

The Head of State leads the Namibian delegation to join other African Heads of State and government.

Namibia's participation in the U.S.-Africa Business Summit presents an opportunity for the country to attract foreign investment and expand trade opportunities.

"The Summit will provide an important opportunity for President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah to take a message to Namibian and U.S. business leaders and policymakers emphasising the fact that Namibia is open for business in the areas of agriculture, energy and trade. President Nandi-Ndaitwah will speak at several panels on messages of energy. Namibia is emerging on the continent as one of the key energy players, both in terms of all forms of energy, oil and gas as well as renewable energy," explained Press Secretary Dr Alfredo Hengari.

The Summit will also focus on key issues and opportunities shaping U.S.-Africa trade and investment by bringing together participants for high-level discussions to explore and define priority sectors and creating new pathways for economic collaboration.

"Currently, as one of two female African presidents, our President will speak on Tuesday at a panel that will look at the advancement of women and will make a case for Namibia that is progressing in terms of promoting gender equality and also the importance of women in business, because successful societies are those that include women in decision-making both at the level of politics and business."

The President is expected back home on Tuesday.
