
The Namibian Police have seized illicit drugs valued at over N$106 million and arrested 3,264 suspects between January 2023 and December 2024.
According to official statistics released by police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, there has been a consistent year-on-year increase in both the value and volume of drug seizures.
In 2023, NamPol intercepted narcotics worth N$49.3 million,
which rose to N$56.6 million in 2024.
Cannabis was the most commonly confiscated drug in both years, followed by Mandrax tablets, cocaine, crack cocaine, LSD, and MDMA tablets.
Most of the arrested suspects were Namibians, but in 2024, foreigners from 13 different countries were also apprehended.
