Zimbabwe's second vice president, Kembo Mohadi, said the shared liberation struggle for the region is paramount to shaping resilience among Africans.

Retired Colonel Mohadi is on a mission to visit the Zimbabwe Liberation Memorial sites in Angola, Zambia, Tanzania, and Mozambique with a view to creating shrines in honour of the fallen heroes.

The visit to the sites underscores the profound sacrifices and enduring solidarity that Zambia extended to the entire region during the struggle for independence.

The Zimbabwean leader paid a courtesy call on Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema at State House in Lusaka, where he shared his mission.

"Our shared liberation struggle for us is paramount in shaping resilience as African people and also our culture, heritage and unity. Zimbabwe appreciates Zambia's support during the darkest hours, and it shall remain in our collective memory."

For President Hichilema, liberation heritage sites remain powerful symbols of Zambia's unwavering commitment to solidarity and peace, reflecting the Pan-African vision of founding President Kenneth David Kaunda.

"This government will do what UNIP has done to support this mission; the ANC are doing similar things, as you know, they were headquartered here. I think it's our duty."

He reaffirmed Zambia's commitment to strengthening the excellent bilateral relations that exist between Zambia and the region, for the mutual benefit of the people and future generations.
