The Keetmanshoop Agricultural Industrial and Tourism Expo (KAITE) held a fundraising gala dinner where it raised more than N$300,000 for this year's event, scheduled to take place at the end of next month.

The expo creates a platform for small and medium enterprises to showcase their products and services and to foster smart partnerships with semi-corporate and corporate entities.

Speaking at the gala dinner, ||Kharas Region Governor Dawid Gertze said trade expos like KAITE are more than just annual events. They rather serve as vital platforms for economic growth.

"I firmly believe that the industries of tourism and agriculture are exceptionally well positioned to promote the expansion of local small and medium-sized enterprises. Their involvement underscores our collective commitment to creating an enabling environment for business to thrive and for our region to prosper. The ripple effect of the flourishing tourism sector, from accommodation providers to local artisans, and a robust agricultural sector, from farmers to food production, directly translates into sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment."

Also speaking at the occasion was the patron of the expo, Bennie Diergaardt. "As we launch this expo, let us remember that its true value lies not only in the transactions that will take place over the days but in the vision it represents. A Keetmanshoop that is economically strong, culturally resilient, industrially innovative and globally attractive as a tourism destination."

Keetmanshoop Municipality pledged the highest amount at N$200,000 and also offered its facilities to the expo, free of charge.
