The Cabinet has instructed the Ministry of International Relations and Trade to arrange a suitable date for President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's visit to India before the end of the year.
The visit, which will include the convening of the Namibia-India Joint Commission of Cooperation, follows India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent state visit to Namibia.
The Ministry will further convene the 4th Joint Trade Committee and work towards the establishment of the Namibia-India Business Forum.
"In addition, Cabinet directed OMAs responsible for signed MoUs to operationalise agreements with timelines and regular progress reports to Cabinet. Cabinet also directed all OMAs to expedite the conclusion of pending agreements on cybersecurity, digital transformation, culture and small development projects," said ICT Minister Emma Theofelus.
The Cabinet took note of the 45th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government held in Madagascar in August and directed relevant ministries to implement the resolutions of the summit in their respective areas of responsibility.
Additionally, the Cabinet noted the statutes of the Memorandum of Agreement between the Ministry of Health and Social Services and the Russian Research Anti-Plague Institute regarding cooperation to ensure sanitary and epidemiological well-being.
It authorised the ministry's Executive Director to sign the said agreement with the Russian Federation.
Cabinet furthermore supported a budgetary allocation to cover projected expenses for the Interpol presidency campaign.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security has been directed to engage offices, ministries, and agencies (OMAs) and other stakeholders to assist or provide resources to support Namibia's country data campaign and pledge sponsorship during the Interpol presidential term.
OMAs were directed to take action on the report of the 9th summit of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development held in August and capitalise on the bilateral and multilateral cooperation opportunities offered by the Government of Japan.
