The Embassy of China hosted their 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Namibia, which coincided with the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

China's Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping, expressed pride in the diplomatic relations between the two countries, stating that they have always treated each other as equals.

China has been a major trading partner with Namibia for decades, having also implemented a series of aid projects which have directly benefited the local people.

"As both belonging to the global south, our two countries, sharing similar historic experiences and values and upholding multilateralism and international fairness and justice, have always maintained close communication on major international and regional issues. Our two peoples have forged their profound friendship as early as Namibia's struggle for independence and continue to maintain close contact, as the establishment of diplomatic ties with mutual understanding and friendly sentiments toward each other constantly deepens."

Relations between China and Namibia have flourished across various key sectors, including trade, infrastructure, education, and public health, among others.

The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, Jenelly Matundu, says the two nations share a relationship characterised by solidarity, mutual respect, and shared aspirations.

"Namibia remains committed to advancing our comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China, fostering closer economic cooperation, expanding opportunities for our peoples and strengthening collaboration in science, green energy and technology to address global challenges such as climate change."

Matundu reaffirmed Namibia's commitment to work hand in hand with China in building a future of peace, prosperity and sustainable development.
